Welcome Fr Stephen Williams

Father Stephen Williams is looking forward to ministry with Glenrock Anglican and commences as our locum on Sunday 22 May, 2022. Having served in parishes in North Queensland, Sydney, Melbourne and the Northern Territory, he initially came to Newcastle to establish Samaritans then later as rector of Merewether and Dean at Newcastle Cathedral. Since retirement he has served as locum at Hamilton, Maitland and East Lake Macquarie.

Fr Stephen's wife Sue is well known in the diocese through her work at Samaritans and then as Director of Vocations and is a member of the Cathedral community. Sue and Stephen live in Charlestown and have four adult children and nine grandchildren.

Stephen says that arrival in a parish always entails a steep learning curve while he listens and observes to try to understand how he can best serve the people there.
